On this occasion, Ian Huggins, general manager at Unique System FZE, affirmed he was happy to be conducting Hypack’s pioneering courses since the last 6 years and bringing the hydrographic community together. The latest capability added is support of beach volumes for beach replenishment projects. Cross Section & Volumes can read hundreds of sections, compute the volumes and send all of the sections to the printer/plotter in a matter of seconds. Over 20 methods are available to compute the area and volume of material for each profile segment (left slope, main channel, and right slope), it can compute quantities for a single survey versus the design template, or for a pre-dredge versus an after-dredge comparison. The programme is the de facto standard for volume computations by several national survey agencies. The Cross Sections & Volumes programme computes volume quantities for cross sectional profile lines compared to the channel design template and channel over-depth template for each line.
Hypack can compute volume quantities either from sections across channels or from surface models. This was the first dedicated Volumes Computation course to be conducted in the UAE. The two-day volumes computation course blended in-classroom sessions and hands-on exercises conducted by Mr Pat Sanders, founder and president of Hypack. Unique System FZE, in association with Hypack (USA), conducted the Hypack Volumes Course on 6 and 7 November 2013 at its training centre in the Hamriyah Free Zone, Sharjah, UAE.
